  • Subcision is a minor procedure that treats depressed acne scars by inserting a small needle under the skin to break up the fibrous bands pulling the scar down, allowing the skin to lift and smooth over time.

  • Subcision uses a fine needle inserted beneath the skin to break up the fibrous bands causing deep scars. This releases tension, allowing the skin to lift naturally while stimulating collagen production for smoother, more even skin over time.

  • It’s most commonly used for rolling or tethered acne scars but can also treat certain surgical scars, traumatic scars, and in some cases, cellulite.

  • Downtime is minimal. You may experience mild bruising, swelling, or tenderness for a few days after the procedure, but most people resume normal activities within 1–2 days.

  • This depends on the severity and number of scars. Some clients see visible improvement after one session, while others may benefit from a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart.

  • Most patients tolerate the procedure well. A local anesthetic is used to minimize discomfort, so the treatment itself is generally not painful. Mild soreness or bruising may occur afterward.
